The Community Council

The Abergwyngregyn Community Council has seven councillors and a paid clerk to the council, and meets four times a year in the Community Room in Yr Hen Felin. Councilors do not represent a specific ward, are not affiliated to any party and are not on a specific commitee.

Meetings are open to members of the public, though they may only speak on an issue at the invitation of the chair. Anyone who wishes to raise a matter should contact the clerk before the meeting. Contrinutions are welcome either in Welsh or Englih=sh. Correspondence can be sent to the council in either Welsh or English.

Dates of meetings are posted on the village noticeboard 14 days in advance.

Councillors are elected for a period of four years. If anyone leaves between elections a replacemant may be co-opted by the councillors.

The council has limited powers and receives a small precept from taxes which covers the clerk's wages, internal and external audit fees, stationary, and expenditure approved by Gwynedd Council including donations to local charities.

The council is responsible for local issues such as public footpaths and roads, dog fouling, rubbish bins, village clear-up, salt bins, public benches, bus shelters and street lighting. The council is also responsible for informin Gwynedd Council when problems arise. Planning applications are also considered and discussed.

Speakers such as local police, officers from Gwynedd Council, and local councillors can be included in meetings.
